Collagen induction therapy, also known as microneedling, dermarolling, or skin needling, is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles.  Generally it is used to address fine lines, acne scarring, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, pigmentation and stretch marks.

Microneedling is a highly effective treatment as it has a dual action response. Firstly, it can help correct problem areas on damaged skin  by triggering the body’s natural healing process, generating new collagen and elastin cells. The result is tighter, firmer, softer, healthier and younger looking skin.

However, it can also be used to create microchannels into the skin which allow topical products to be absorbed into the epidermis so they have greater efficacy.

We use a medical, microneedling pen, rather than a dermaroller, as this causes far less unnecessary trauma to the skin by working in a perpendicular motion rather than dragging it across the skin like a roller would do.

Whilst microneedling can be used as a standalone treatment, it is most effective when combined with other modalities, such as the application of serums and advanced facial peel treatments which can be tailored to each individual client.

Microneedling can be safely repeated every 4 weeks until you achieve the desired results.

Step 1. The consultation. During your consultation, we will assess the areas you wish to have treated and any general concerns you have. At this time, we will discuss the number of treatments needed and the intervals between each session. We work within the strict guidelines set out by the Health Inspectorate of Wales. As such, you will be asked to fill in a form which will cover a number of questions about any medical conditions you may have, medications you are taking, whether you have an active tan etc. This is to assess your suitability for the treatment. There is no obligation to go through with the treatment following a consultation and we will never rush you into anything you are no 100% comfortable with.

Step 2. The treatment. The time varies depending on the area that is being treated. However, the average time of this treatment can vary for 30 mins to one hour.

Step 4. Aftercare. At the end of the treatment, we will explain how to look after the area and you will take home aftercare instructions. You will also be given a small sample of aftercare products to use as instructed, as this will be necessary to ensure your treatment area heals as quickly as possible.

Our expert practitioner will recommend the best skincare regime to support the treatments you have. We stock a range of products from medical skincare brand Mesoesetetic because they deliver state-of-the-art skincare at a reasonable price. Following your treatment, we will recommend product/s based on your specific requirements.

To complement this treatment, we recommend our Collagen Lift, radio frequency, treatment that addresses skin laxity by delivering radio frequency energy deep into the skin causing contraction of the collagen fibres, stimulating collagen production and increasing blood flow; all of which will result in tighter, firmer looking skin. Treatments are painless and there is no downtime. You will see an immediate difference after the first treatment, however we recommend a course of 6, performed twice per week followed by a maintenance session every 4 to 6 weeks.
