DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning is the queen of exfoliation treatments. It basically removes surface debris from the skin as well as vellus hair (the short, fine hair that covers most of our body, but is commonly known as peach fuzz on the facial area) increasing absorption of topical products. It has been around for many years, but has only recently become popular as a celebrity must-have treatment.
THE TREATMENT
Our practitioner uses a surgical scalpel to gently scrape off any dead skin cells on the surface of your skin which immediately diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as any acne scarring and helps create a healthier more radiant appearance.
Dermaplaning is a great treatment to use with other protocols, such as a light chemical peel. This is because it removes any layers of oils and containments, leaving a clear path for the chemical peel to be able to penetrate into the epidermis without any barriers.
Post treatment you may experience some redness and/or some minor swelling or tingling, however this is unusual.
We would recommend multiple treatments, ideally around 2-5, spaced 4 week
Step 1. The consultation. During your consultation, we will assess your skin and discuss the number of treatments needed and the intervals between each session. We work within the strict guidelines set out by the Health Inspectorate of Wales. As such, you will be asked to fill in a form which will cover a number of questions about any medical conditions you may have and medications you are taking etc. This is to assess your suitability for the treatment. There is no obligation to go through with the treatment following a consultation and we will never rush you into anything you are not 100% comfortable with.
Step 2. The treatment. The time varies depending on the area that is being treated. However, the average time of this treatment is around 40 mins.
Step 3. Aftercare. At the end of the treatment, we will explain how to look after the area and you will take home aftercare instructions
