CHEMICAL PEELS

A chemical peel is basically a high-strength exfoliant used to improve skin texture and tone.  Acids are applied to the skin to lower the pH, which helps shed dead skin cells and stimulate new cell growth. This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peel off, revealing a more radiant complexion.

At Face Factor, we use a number of mono-substance and combined peels based on the client’s specific skin type and condition. Our range of highly effective peels are from Clinicare.

A single chemical peel can achieve brighter and more radiant skin. However, more significant results in treating fine lines, wrinkles etc. would require a course of treatments. We usually recommend 4-6 treatments with intervals of 2 weeks and then a maintenance course of 2 per year. This will vary from client to client.

THE TREATMENT

The in-clinic treatment starts with a thorough cleansing of the skin to ensure it is free of any makeup or other contaminants. We then protect any sensitive areas, such as the eyes and nasal wings. Once this is done, the peel is applied and left on the skin for a specific amount of time which will depend on the thickness and condition of the skin and the desired response level. Once the peel Is removed and neturalised, the skin is then applied with a specialist, hydrating mask for 20 mins, after which time we then apply a fast skin repair cream and SPF 50+.

Step 1. The consultation. During your consultation, we will assess the areas you wish to have treated and any general concerns you have. At this time, we will discuss the number of treatments needed and the intervals between each session. We work within the strict guidelines set out by the Health Inspectorate of Wales. As such, you will be asked to fill in a form which will cover a number of questions about any medical conditions you may have, medications you are taking, whether you have an active tan etc. This is to assess your suitability for the treatment. There is no obligation to go through with the treatment following a consultation and we will never rush you into anything you are not 100% comfortable with.

Step 2. The treatment. The average time of this treatment is about 30 mins to 1 hour depending on whether we combine it with microneedling or dermaplaning.  This includes the time taken to make a full assessment of your skin

Step 3. Aftercare. At the end of the treatment, we will explain how to look after the area and you will take home aftercare instructions. You will also be given a small sample of aftercare products to use as instructed, as this will be necessary to ensure your treatment area heals as quickly as possible
